TAD 7025-WB Highgrade PREMIUM Selected
a low noise, super low microphonic selected version of the 12AX7 that meets all specifications required for the tube to be designated 7025 and SPAX7®

The TAD 7025WB Highgrade is tested and meticulously selected for the lowest noise and microphonics for use in the critical first preamp stages of High-Gain guitar amplifiers where noise and microphonics could be an issue.
The Tube Amp Doctor 7025 WB Highgrade has a balanced tone with an little emphasis on the upper mid-range that gives a nice string attack and clarity to the sound while retaining a strong and defined bottom end. The 7025WB Highgrade will also do equally well in vintage guitar amplifiers.

If the 7025 WB is used in sensitive phono preamps the tube adds freshness to the signal without being harsh or spiky.

The TAD 7025 Highgrade can replace any ECC83, E83CC, ECC803S, 12AX7, 12AX7A, 12AX7M, SPAX7®, 12AX7WA/WB/WC/LPS/EH, 5751, 7025, CV492 and CV4004.

DISTINCTION from RT010 7025 and RT030 7025 / E83CC HIGHGRADE:

Compared to the RT030 and RT010, the RT093-HG shows a little more edge in the upper midrange. As a result, it asserts itself tonally very well, which makes perfect sense in a band structure.

RT030 is emphasising the midrange a bit more and thus brings more warmth and a little less brilliance and depth definition than the RT010 and RT093-HG.

Due to their tonal structure the RT093-HG and the RT030 are even less prone to microphonics than the RT010 which qualifies for use with extremely microphonic-critical amps.

my favorite 12ax7 for High Gain Amps V1 position

The RT093-HG is my favourite tube for high-gain amps. The TAD description with the slight emphasis on the high mids and the resulting pleasantly leaner bass is spot on. I use it in my preamp as well as in the SLO30, REVV Gen 120II and even in the Fryette D120H, which is quite tight by design. So far I've always liked this tube better in V1 compared to the original configuration. It makes the whole thing a little crisper and more assertive without being harsh. The quality and ambient noise behaviour of all tubes that I have used so far have been faultless.

Good, but bettered

Not as clear and airy as the RT01, with soundstaging reduced, and a slight emphasis in the high mids, but not too warm. But sounds unbalanced and less musical. Strings sound less real, but heft in pianos does sound more realistic. Human voices are a bit lost, both male and female. Very low noise though, with a very dark background. Would be very good if a bit more balanced, but no real magic. Still better than a JJ though!

All power tubes labeled Premium Selected have passed the following tests:

- Low Noise Test

- Microphonic Test

- Listening Tests

- Shorts & Leakage Tests

- Deep-Drive & Soak Test

Premium RT-Matching of Power Tubes

Our Premium Matching is an exact matching of power tubes with identical Plate Current (PC) and Transconductance (TC).

TAD Premium Selected tubes are guaranteed for a period of 12 months (according to terms of warranties)

for the quality criteria mentioned above.

Preamp tubes

All preamp tubes labeled Premium Selected have passed the following tests:

- Low Noise Test

- Microphonic Test

- Gain Test

- Sonic Tests

- Shock Tests

- Listening Tests

- Balance Output Test

Premium Selected

We call the tubes SELECTED which have passed above tests and thus qualify as reliable all-round tubes of their type.Typically this is around 30-60% from a batch that receives the SELECTED label from TAD.

For applications in particularly sensitive functions such as V1 or input stage with combo amps, V1 in high-gain amps, tube microphones and phono preamps, we recommend using the respective HIGHGRADE selection

HIGHGRADE SELECTION

But only those tubes which pass these tests best are labeled Highgrades.Typically this is approx. 3-10% from a production batch that qualifies for the HIGHGRADE rating from TAD.

Matching and Selecting Options for Preamp Tubes

Matching in Pairs for preamp tubes means that two tubes show identical gain, hence, four characteristically identical systems.

This matching method includes our Balance-Selection. We highly recommend this matching method for hi-fi systems.
