Transformers - the right voltage for great sound
Tube amplifiers are sensitive creatures. They are susceptible to voltage fluctuations, excessive wear, and react almost allergically to incorrect system components. To generate the right sound, amplifiers require special converters that reliably generate the required voltages and currents, and provide a perfect match between the output stage tubes and the speakers.
We use only proven branded technology from suppliers used by big names like Marshall, Fender, and Co. for our transformers.
Matching transformers for every project - a brief overview
Transformers perform their tasks at various key points within an amplifier and thus influence the operation, behavior, and ultimately the sound of the respective device in various ways.
We offer a large number of products for all conceivable applications:
Output transformers
These devices for tube amplifiers are responsible for adapting the high-impedance signals of the electron tubes to the impedance of the speakers used. Speakers typically operate at 4, 8, or 16 ohms impedance - output converters adjust the signal accordingly.
Reverb driver transformer
Amplifiers that use a real reverb tank to create reverb effects are particularly found in classic guitar amps. To drive the reverb tank, a special reverb driver tube is typically used. This then drives the tank with the help of the reverb driver transformer - et voila: a creamy, subtle reverb delights the ear!
Mains transformer
Adapting the voltage of the power grid to the needs of one's own amp is the basic requirement for our beloved sound generator to do anything at all. Converting mains voltage into the internal requirements is the task of the mains transformers.
Step-down transformer
Step-down transformers adapt the European mains voltage (230V) to the voltage required by US devices (117V): We offer our TAD step-down converters in the highest quality so that even old original US amps can reliably operate again without modification!
Transformer covers
Not only do we offer the voltage converters themselves, but also the matching transformer covers to our customers. The appropriate metal caps for El 114, El 76, El 96, El 84 are used in various color variants.
New construction project vs. restoration
We support our customers in making their tube amplifier sound good again - whether it's a newly built, personalized amp or an old Fender classic. We provide our customers with the appropriate spare parts and voltage converters for their projects, according to the original specifications of the manufacturers.
