Why a matching tube set?
Electron valves are fragile components. They are like the organic parts of an amp. Over the years, the slow aging of the tubes leads to different sound characteristics. Especially the interaction between preamp and power valves is remarkable: Changing tubes can noticeably alter the sound structure.
To achieve as uniform and "flat" a sound profile as possible, it makes sense to use a particularly matched valve kit. Many manufacturers, therefore, offer their own valve sets to regain the original sound.
