Hall Springs | Reverbs | Effects - More Depth for Your Sound!
Give your sound more space! Hardly a tone played in modern music through electric guitar or bass comes entirely without effects. Especially reverb effects give the amplified signal a clear depth and richness, making the difference between pure sound manipulation and organic harmony.
Unlike digital effects, where the signal is merely supplemented with some ones and zeros, the built-in springs make the effect sound organic and "real" through self-vibration. We offer a wide selection of different hall springs.
Hall Springs - old technology, modern understanding
Hall springs have been considered the ultimate in guitar effects since at least the legendary Fender Reverb Amps of the Blackface era. Fender installed the springs inside the amplifiers back then to achieve simple modulation of the sound. Of course, a lot has changed technically in the last few decades. But the basic principle has remained the same.
By the way: The suitable spring for your own amp can be easily found using our 7-digit coding. Input and output impedance, installation method, and connections are thus easily and quickly decoded.
To find the suitable hall spring for your own amp, manufacturers have agreed on the following typification:
Type 4
The absolute industry standard still consists of the Type 4 hall springs that Fender has always used. Four counter-wound and coupled springs with a length of 42.5 cm are installed and controlled in the chassis. The springs offer a reverberation of up to 4 seconds and let your own sounds blur into soundscapes.
Type 8
The Type 8 hall spring standard is used for particularly compact construction. To prevent loss of sound, a system of three springs is installed, which manage with only 23.5 cm in length. Although the more compact design reduces the spring travel, it compensates for sound losses through very good response.
Type 9
Type 9 hall springs offer a large reverb reserve, especially for instruments such as keyboards or pedal steel guitars. The six counter-wound springs are measured at 42.5 cm, like the Type 4, and offer the fullest and richest reverb sound. Depending on the area of application, the sound of a Type 9 module is quite suitable for playing with the effect and creating your own creations and soundscapes.
