The ECC803S Gold is a long plate type ECC83 which is a prefered detail when concerning the use in hi-fi audio equipement.

The long plate construction does allow a higher peak current which is especcially helpful as driver tube.

With the BALANCED / SYMMETRIC selected option it is a recommended choice as balanced driver stage

The MATCHED PAIR selected option includes (of course) the selection for BALANCE and is the recommended choice for Stereo amplifiers.

Superb Hi-Fi Tube

This tube is great for Hi-Fi applications: it sounds fast, tight, detailed and dynamic. Not euphonic at all but still with a hint of warmth in the midrange. In my phono preamp it smokes my NOS Philips Miniwatt ECC83 short plate which in comparison sound anemic and smeared. In my opinion better suited for Hi-Fi than guitar amps. Excellent!
