The Legendary Old-School Tone!!

The TAD KT66 is our remake of the great British KT66 by MOV (MO Valve), GEC, Genalex and Gold Lion. This tube is THE REAL THING. It has a large curved glass envelope and a rounded brown base. It made the Marshall JTM45 Plexi amps famous in the 60's and the Quad Hi-Fi amps a legend.

Speaking of legends: SRV used the KT66 in his Fender Amps for his outrageous, gigantic guitar sound.

Tube height (without pins): approx. 115mm.

Recommended:

For a full bodied thick tone with larger headroom, smooth but detailed top end, single channel amps, dynamic playing, vintage British Rock and Roll as well as for the new modern vintage amps 2266 and 2466.
It can also replace the 6L6GC and 5881 tubes.

STELLAR!

Tried the 6l6wgc in my hifi amp, cool tubes but I had not the magical touch...with those kt66,it's a killer match..excellent tubes, warm, rich detailed and super musical...definitively a killer tube for hifi, and in the actual production, there are few!!

The pair of TAD KT66 valves that I have are one of the best matched pair of power valves in my collection. In my Marshall JTM45 there is less than one milliamp between them. The sound is brassy and imposing with a good tight bass and yet sweet, detailed and easy to listen to. I have both the old stock GEC and the new Gold Lion KT66. The TAD KT66 that I have are more than a match for those and any other KT66 on the market.

one of the very best current production kt66s. after testing two pairs of these in two jtm45 and a komet 60 (as well as various plexis), I ended up preferring these tubes over the gold lions by a small margin. I also comparred the sound to two pairs of shuguangs that appear to be made at the same factory but ended up clearly preferring the TADs, since they sound more like the original GECs. by comparison, the tung-sol sounds like a 6l6gc

When does a tube become a Premium Selected tube?

Power tubes

All power tubes labeled Premium Selected have passed the following tests:

- Plate Current (PC) and Amplification (TC)

- Low Noise Test

- Microphonic Test

- Sonic Tests

- Shock Tests

- Listening Tests

- Shorts & Leakage Tests

Premium RT-Matching of Power Tubes

Our Premium Matching is an exact matching of power tubes with identical Plate Current (PC) and Transconductance (TC).

TAD Premium Selected tubes are guaranteed for a period of 6 months (according to terms of warranties)

for the quality criteria mentioned above.

Preamp tubes

All preamp tubes labeled Premium Selected have passed the following tests:

- Low Noise Test

- Microphonic Test

- Gain Test

- Sonic Tests

- Shock Tests

- Listening Tests

- Balanced Output Test

Premium Selected

We call the tubes SELECTED which have passed above tests and thus qualify as reliable all-round tubes of their type.Typically this is around 30-60% from a batch that receives the SELECTED label from TAD.

For applications in particularly sensitive functions such as V1 or input stage with combo amps, V1 in high-gain amps, tube microphones and phono preamps, we recommend using the respective HIGHGRADE selection

HIGHGRADE SELECTION

But only those tubes which pass these tests best are labeled Highgrades.Typically this is approx. 3-10% from a production batch that qualifies for the HIGHGRADE rating from TAD.

Matching and Selecting Options for Preamp Tubes

Matching in Pairs for preamp tubes means that two tubes show identical gain, hence, four characteristically identical systems.

This matching method includes our Balance-Selection. We highly recommend this matching method for hi-fi systems.
