The TAD 12AX7 / ECC83 REDBASE^® Premium Selected provides very good gain, tight bass, fat mids and silky top end with overall definition and brightness.

Selected for low noise and balanced systems is this tube recommended for guitar and audio amplifers to improve overall response.

Best for clean tones as well as for sounds requiring fat midrange, detailed airy top end and lots of power from the preamp.

Recommended for all positions in amps with medium gain level or High-Gain Amps for V2+ positions.

As for V1 in general, but especially for higher gain amps or phono/audio-amps, we recommend the RT-7025 Highgrade, the RT030 E83CC/7025 Highgrade or RT093-HG 7025-WB Highgrade

V2 in a Peavey 6505 212 combo (5150)

Peavey 6505 isn't famous for being silent, indeed it is also full of whistles.
With:
V1 RT-030
V2 RT-12AX7
V5 RT-030
(V3 Effect - V4 P.I.)
There are no hiss, no annoying background noise.
Perfect creamy gain sound.

Good 12AX7 for single channel and vintage amps! Great for hi-fi too

This tube has very defined, open and linear mids, and a bright top-end. The low end is not as good as other "standard" tubes like JJ or Tung sol, is very tight. The gain is more than enough for clean and crunch channels, maybe a tad bit low for high gain sounds. All in all, an excellent, very silent valve with a linear and open sound, suitable for hi-fi and single-channel or not excessively "gainy" amplifiers. The quality seems excellent, structurally it seems built in an almost identical way to the JJ ECC83S but I think it is made by Psvane. Compared to the latter Psvane 12AX7 valves for example, they are a definite step forward, however in my opinion they can do even better if they made this 12AX7 REDBASE with a slightly fuller sound in the low-mid bass and that little bit more gain. TAD's service is as always excellent!

I love that tube in Singleman line amps!

the REDBASE 12AX7/ECC83 is built very robustly and this gives it remarkable definition. The high range is bright but not glassy and the microphonics are very low, almost absent. The low range is tight and defined. Very good for preamps with distortion due to its non-ringing midrange. I love that tube in Singleman line amps!

Honestly I loved the RT001/RT010 for their mids and top.. on the gainy preamp worked awesome, on the Mercury head especially :-)

Power tubes

All power tubes labeled Premium Selected have passed the following tests:

- Plate Current (PC) and Amplification (TC)

- Low Noise Test

- Microphonic Test

- Listening Tests

- Shorts & Leakage Tests

Premium RT-Matching of Power Tubes

Our Premium Matching is an exact matching of power tubes with identical Plate Current (PC) and Transconductance (TC).

TAD Premium Selected tubes are guaranteed for a period of 6 months (according to terms of warranties)

for the quality criteria mentioned above.

Preamp tubes

All preamp tubes labeled Premium Selected have passed the following tests:

- Low Noise Test

- Microphonic Test

- Gain Test

- Sonic Tests

- Shock Tests

- Listening Tests

- Balanced Output Test

Premium Selected

We call the tubes SELECTED which have passed above tests and thus qualify as reliable all-round tubes of their type.Typically this is around 30-60% from a batch that receives the SELECTED label from TAD.

For applications in particularly sensitive functions such as V1 or input stage with combo amps, V1 in high-gain amps, tube microphones and phono preamps, we recommend using the respective HIGHGRADE selection

But only those tubes which pass these tests best are labeled Highgrades.Typically this is approx. 3-10% from a production batch that qualifies for the HIGHGRADE rating from TAD.

Matching and Selecting Options for Preamp Tubes

Matching in Pairs for preamp tubes means that two tubes show identical gain, hence, four characteristically identical systems.

This matching method includes our Balance-Selection. We highly recommend this matching method for hi-fi systems.
