The ECC803S is a long plate type ECC83 which is a prefered detail when concerning the use in hi-fi audio equipement.

The long plate construction does allow a higher peak current which is especcially helpful as driver tube.

With the BALANCED / SYMMETRIC selected option it is a recommended choice as balanced driver stage

The MATCHED PAIR selected option includes (of course) the selection for BALANCE and is the recommended choice for Stereo amplifiers.

Buyed a matched pair for 80 ... one of them already broke in 3-4 months under normal use ;(
I will try definetly others ....

Just swapped a RCA greyplate D-getter with this one, on the v1 clean channel, and its just as good. A big improvement over the JJ ECC83S, more open and detailed. Well done JJ!

Cristal clear valve, really hard to break up. It's very detailed but, sounds a bit sterile to my taste. IMHO, this valve suits better Hi-fi applications than guitar amps ones but, It could be a very good election for dark amps or when to run the amp always clean is a must.
