Brandnew: The Jensen Blackbird 10-40: the stock speaker in the brandnew MESA/Boogie California Tweed 6V6 2:20.

Powerful and natural sound, with a solid and firm bass range. The midrange and treble are open and airy, with the typical immediacy of the best 10" speakers. Pushed into crunch and overdrive, it retains a focused, cutting response.

Being the smaller sibling of the highly successful BB12/40, the BB10/40 shares many build and design elements: for example the same exclusive "Reinforced AlNiCo" magnet, and the 1 ¾" (32mm) copper-wound voice coil.

The power rating is the same, 40W, and the efficiency is very similar as well, delivering 95.4/96.4dB with ease.

The tonal qualities are just beautiful: The Blackbird 10/40 is distinctively vintage voiced, with a warm yet solid bass range, the classic sparkle and chime that are associated with the AlNiCo speakers, and all the immediacy and forwardness that are expected from a high quality 10" speaker.
