top quality
Great kit for this classic amp....I built mine into a wide-panel style plywood cab with a Jensen 8" and it sings!
Eexcellent components, from the chassis to the traditional carbon comp resistors build into a great sounding amp.
The instructions are not as clear as with the Mojotone kits and I would recommend that the mounting holes for the phenolic circuit board are drilled before its loaded, taking into account where the components are going to be placed.
A nice option with these kits would be to supply without tubes for those who prefer to use others,NOS etc or who have a good few spares to use up!
I most certainly intend to build one more with a 10" speaker next time.
....
Very good amp. Easy to bild, good quallity parts. Sound is great with various speakers, 1 x 8", or even 4 x 12". I have made head version, my own cabinet design.
My first attempt to assemble an amp. What can I say 8 hours later I have fantastic amp of the dreams. Would recommend to anyone. The tone is fantastic, the parts used are great. Everything about the amp is great.
The instructions while not difficult, but it it's your first project like this will take some time and additional research to complete.
Will buy my next amp from TAD, definitely!
I received the kit within two weeks and was impressed by the quality of the parts and cabinet!! I assembled it in about 6 hours with the schematic that i received with it and once assembled, flipt the switch and there was the sound of the past. Nice sound, really, i din't expect such a loud amplifier for a 4 Watt combo!!
Great job guys, keep up the good kits!
I receive the kit here in Greece, and everything was perfect in a great packaging!
At first the quality of the cabinet impressed me and then all the components was looking great
separated in different bags and checked one by one in the part list.
I start building the kit and it took me about 5 hours. It was pretty easy with the schematics.
When it was finished I plug my '78 Ibanez PF300 and at first I was really shocked from the bass response.
I thought that the sound will be thin BUT especially with the neck pickup it is huge with plenty of bass (great blues tone). And of course the bridge pickup sound crystal clear with great attack.
Input 2 is lower in volume and fits better with humbucker pickups
Input 1 is higher in volume and I believe fits better with single coil pickups.
But then again a humbucker guitar in input 1 with the volume below 10 sound great also.
The distortion comes naturally and is very smooth with great dynamics.
Very warm vintage sound and very loud for a 3W amp.
The best thing is that it amplifies you and your guitar.
With a bad player or a bad guitar (or both) it will sound bad,
but with a good guitar and a good player it will sound great. Nothing to hide here.
Yesterday a friend came by and he wanted to buy it!!! What else to say ? Great amp!!!
