The TAD 6L6GCM-STR REDBASE is our latest 6L6GC designed and built to claim to be the best 6L6 type tube ever manufactured.

A damn high claim, but we are sure that we have achieved exactly that.

In terms of sound, the TAD 6L6GCM-STR REDBASE produces the powerful but always defined bass response known from the legendary american built NOS RCA 6L6GC, with clear, unobtrusive and yet transparent highs. In every setting, the TAD 6L6GCM-STR REDBASE responds directly and with noticeable dynamics, from buttery soft and warm to powerful and brutal without losing any details or depth.

This makes the TAD 6L6GCM-STR an effective upgrade for every amplifier using 6L6GC or 5881 tubes; also repalces any EL37, CV586, VT115A, 6L6GA, 6L6GB, 6L6WGB, 6L6WGC, STR-440, STR-454, 6p3p, 6p3s, 6p3s-e etc.

The TAD 6L6GCM-STR REDBASE combines the structural advantages of the robust American Philips / Sylvania 6L6GC, also known as MESA 6L6GC-STR415, and the sound quality of the legendary RCA 6L6GC tubes.

The new TAD Redbase series combines the latest manufacturing technologies with traditional design and flawless quality. The TAD Redbase series is exclusivly built on a TAD production line that has been optimized especially for the TAD Redbase series. At TAD in Germany, the tubes of the STR series receive a special, additional burn-in treatment and formatting process in preparation for the TAD Premium-Matching, which optimizes the quality of the cathode emission and opens up an exceptionally detailed sound structure.

Great sounding but….

I received a premium amp built November 23 with a set of 6l6 redbase from TAD. They sounded fantastic but less than 2 months I had a tube fail. Now I am aware that can happen but for the premium cost I would hope that could be caught at QC.

Hi ed536m, the QC can catch only what is present at the time ofthe QC. But you enjoy a 6 months warranty on TAD brand tubes. Please ask for warranty replacement at your supplier!

The best 6L6 YES! it is

The 6L6GCM sounds very transparent, I use it on Mcintosh MC240, I also have a 6L6WGC and it work on my Two-Rock guitar amp, but for Hi-Fi systems the 6l6GCM is the winner perfect!

REDBASE 6L6GCM-STR: I’m speechless! Simply perfect quality and construction, warm and very defined sound. Surely the 6L6GCM-STR Redbase will improve HI FI power amp response too

One great tube!

This is by far, one of the best, new production tubes on the market today. I have tried many tubes and can with certainty that this almost rivals the Sylvania 6l6GC double halo getter...almost, but at a quarter of the price! Time will tell if these hold up over time but I am enjoying the ride so far!

6L6GCM-STR REDBASE TAD PREMIUM Selected is the best 6L6 tube.

I have a very small combo self made, with Chinese tubes, one 6L6 and two ECC83, 8" Jensen and solid wood case open backside.
First upgrade I have changed the two ECC83 with TAD7025 WA, obtaining a sweeter tone and more rounded overdrive.
Then I have decided to change also the 6L6 with 6L6GCM redbase selected, that I have requested with low transconductance for the better headroom, after a suggestion of TAD's service.
Put 6L6GCM-STR REDBASE TAD PREMIUM Selected in my amp and this is the fact:
- incredible and wonderful sound, there is a dramatic difference with the previous Chinese tube 6L6GC,
- more defined sound, more headroom, more presence, more harmonics, expecially in triode configuration
- more sound pressure and headroom in tetrode configuration
Many compliments because surely your product is one of the best and what you declare is really what a client can obtain: TAD 6L6GCM-STR is an effective upgrade for every amplifier using 6L6GC, it's true, also for a small open combo with 5watt.

When does a tube become a Premium Selected tube?

Power tubes

All power tubes labeled Premium Selected have passed the following tests:

- Plate Current (PC) and Amplification (TC)

- Low Noise Test

- Microphonic Test

- Sonic Tests

- Shock Tests

- Listening Tests

- Shorts & Leakage Tests

- Deep-Drive & Soak Test

Premium RT-Matching of Power Tubes

Our Premium Matching is an exact matching of power tubes with identical Plate Current (PC) and Transconductance (TC).

TAD Premium Selected tubes are guaranteed for a period of 12 months (according to terms of warranties)

for the quality criteria mentioned above.

Preamp tubes

All preamp tubes labeled Premium Selected have passed the following tests:

- Low Noise Test

- Microphonic Test

- Gain Test

- Sonic Tests

- Shock Tests

- Listening Tests

- Balance Output Test

Premium Selected

We call the tubes SELECTED which have passed above tests and thus qualify as reliable all-round tubes of their type.Typically this is around 30-60% from a batch that receives the SELECTED label from TAD.

For applications in particularly sensitive functions such as V1 or input stage with combo amps, V1 in high-gain amps, tube microphones and phono preamps, we recommend using the respective HIGHGRADE selection

HIGHGRADE SELECTION

But only those tubes which pass these tests best are labeled Highgrades.Typically this is approx. 3-10% from a production batch that qualifies for the HIGHGRADE rating from TAD.

Matching and Selecting Options for Preamp Tubes

Matching in Pairs for preamp tubes means that two tubes show identical gain, hence, four characteristically identical systems.

This matching method includes our Balance-Selection. We highly recommend this matching method for hi-fi systems.
